Студентски съвет на ВУМК / IUC Student Council

International University College will host a Round table conference regarding the amendments in the law for Higher Education, which is initiated by the minister of education – Associate Prof. Sergey Ignatov. Bulgarian students who participated in the meeting addressed many proposals that can make Higher Education in Bulgaria a more encouraging and helpful experience for students. They outlined that they are striving for education which will provide greater mobility, flexibility and choices for students in terms of exchange programmes, internships and work placements. Students also requested for their active involvement so that their participation will become an integral part of the process.

In this respect, International University College representatives recommended application of the many good practices, the College has established through the years, to the Bulgarian Higher Education. Effectively, according to the IUC students, some of the “best practices” that our College utilizes must also be applied to other higher education institutions. Some good examples are the ability to do internships on four continents, travel a lot, follow exchange programmes all over Europe, and graduate with 2 diplomas.

In fact these positive experiences coupled with the international, modern, and innovative education at IUC has provided them with substantial experience and enhanced their knowledge considerably, which could also be put into practice in other institutions. Thereof, representatives of the IUC student council, outlined that their background and international experience with the College have created many opportunities for assuming positive know-how, which has facilitated the implementation of “best practices”.

Yana Zhelyazkova and Andrey Shulman, who represented the Student Council of IUC on the meeting, invited the minister to organize the Round Table conference in Dobrich. Finally, it is an honor for us that many of the propositions addressed by IUC students based on their international experience with the College, were integrated into the common Student Councils’ requests. We, all together, will have the chance to bring our views and contributions to forefront of the discussions in June. It will be a pleasure to address other issues and share our long term experience in the field of innovative and incentive-based higher education on the meeting together with other people, who, like us, also strive for making Bulgarian Higher education an asset for the students’ CV.
