Erasmus Program

The Erasmus Student Mobility Programme for studies is part of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission. It promotes cooperation between the higher education institutions and contributes to the development of a pool of well-qualified, open-minded and internationally experienced young people. It enables students to benefit educationally, linguistically and culturally from the experience of learning in other European countries.

IUC participates in the programme since 2005. If you have successfully completed at least 2 semesters at your home institution, you are a student of one of IUC' Erasmus partners listed below, your institution supports you and you are citizen of one of the countries, participating in the Lifelong Learning Programme, you could become Erasmus student at IUC for one or two semesters.

In order to become an Erasmus student at IUC you have to contact your home institution's Erasmus coordinator in order to obtain support and assistance by defining the modules you will learn at IUC. IUC is one of the very few Bulgarian higher education institutions, which offers English language programmes leading to award of Bachelor degree. The deadlines for sending the application package: 30th May for 1st semester (October - January), 30th November for 2nd semester (February - May)

The application package includes:

-          application form filled out and signed by the institutional Erasmus coordinator

-          learning agreement filled out and signed by the institutional Erasmus coordinator

-          transcript of records proving that you have already completed 2 semesters

After receiving the application the International Office of IUC issues a letter of acceptance and sends it to the student's home institution. International Office provides assistance in booking accommodation, if the students decides to live in one of IUC' facilities.

Prior to arrival:

  • Make sure your passport is valid
  • Do not forget to get your EHIC
  • Arrange your travel insurance if you require one
  • Make sure your bank card can be used abroad
  • Inform IUC International Office on the day of your arrival in Bulgaria

After arrival:

  • Visit the International Office
  • Register for student at Students' Affairs Department
  • Check the study programme at IUC
  • Register at the library of IUC

Please note that the academic year at IUC commences with an introduction week on September, 25th. Classes begin in the first week of October and end in May.
